Worship Issue (May/June 2020)
Oh Beloved One | May/June 2020 | Vol. 9, Issue 3 Worship is more than a pew. Especially in light of the current pandemic, we’re realizing that the church isn’t a building. It’s a body of believers doing life to the glory of God. But what does that look like for young women? How can I cultivate a life of mindful worship? That’s what this issue is all about. This year, we’re taking a look at the ELEMENTS of our faith. Every year we choose a theme, and this year we’re really focusing in on what makes up the practical parts of our faith. We’ll be looking at devotions, prayer, worship, serving, witnessing, and edifying. This is our issue focused on worship. MAY/JUNE 2020 OHBELOVEDONE.COM I RELATE
You walk into a brand new youth group because your dad got a new job and you
had to move to a new town. Your hands are sweating as your heart races, and
you wonder if the blue shirt was the right choice or if you should have gone
with the gray one. Standing off to the corner, you watch as the other girls laugh and
mingle and some of the guys play foosball in the corner.
You’re upset over the move because you miss your old friends, but so far you haven’t
found anyone you can connect to enough to talk about it. It’s rough having to hold
everything inside.
A girl walks up to you and smiles. “Hi, my name’s Sarah! What’s your name?” Before
long, you find yourself deep in conversation with Sarah. Turns out, you two are a
lot alike and a potentially awkward entrance turns out to be the beginning of a long
friendship.
Not only that, but Sarah is more than happy to listen to you rant about the move.
She always suggests several comforting Bible verses and invites you to a Sunday school
party at her house to meet a couple of her friends.
But what if Sarah had decided to stay in her comfort zone and just hang with her
friends? You would have been out in the cold.
