specifications.Modine Coatings now authorizes and mandatesGulfClean applications every six months to coilsand units treated with its ElectroFin® E-Coator Insitu® Spray Applied Coating to maintainthe coatings’ five-year warranties. The two-stepGulfClean process is also safe and recommendedfor maintaining most manufacturer’s coils andcoatings from salt corrosion.GulfClean’s Step-1 Coil Cleaner and Step-2 SaltReducer are each manufactured by RectorSealat its Houston-based chemical plant forquality control and are available in one-gallon(3.76-liters) containers from most HVAC/Rwholesale distributors. Each step requires lessthan 10 minutes to apply and rinse.GulfClean Coil Cleaner is an environmentallyfriendly,biodegradable, non-acid and noncausticfoaming cleaner that attacks dirt andsalt, but is safe for evaporator, condenser andrefrigeration coil metals and coatings, as wellas the service technician applying it. The strawcoloredsolution is typically diluted with one tothree parts water (depending on coil soiling),applied with a hand pump-up sprayer andrinsed with water. GulfClean Coil Cleaner is anexcellent cleaning preparation for contractorsprior to applying Modine’s GulfCoat Do-It-Yourself (DIY) coil coatings on new HVAC units.reducer is typically diluted in a 50:1 to 100:1 ratio(depending on unit proximity to coasts) andapplied with a hand pump-up sprayer and rinsedwithin 10 minutes. GulfClean Salt Reducer will notchemically attach or corrode coils, surroundingmetal, other HVAC equipment components oradjacent roofing materials.Other GulfClean features include:GulfClean can be applied to packaged and splitsystemoutdoor unit coils.Steps 1 and 2 are available to wholesale distributorsin cases of 4, one-gallon containers and have shelflives of two and three years, respectively.GulfClean Salt Reducer is a biodegradable,non-hazardous, non-flammable and volatileorganic compound (VOC)-free solutionthat’s safe for removing soluble salts withoutaffecting coating adhesion on coated evaporatorand condenser coils.
