Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad binTahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu DhabiAirports.This collaboration is part of a broader initiativeby Abu Dhabi Airports to integrate the mostadvanced technologies within its operations, toachieve a high level of efficiency, and providethe best services to its travellers.88
The CoDi BOT UGV will be piloted from Maythroughout Abu Dhabi International Airport,including in staff areas and cargo facilities,as well as being used as part of cabindeserialization processes on passengeraircraft.Specifically ensuring aircraft cabins arekept clean and sterile, the CoDi BOT UGV isdesigned to be able to manoeuvre throughairplane cabin, which is a unique feature ofthis product, while ensuring the safety of itsoperators through remote control capability,using real-time video and high-speed 4G dataconnection.The introduction of the robot helps operationalteams carry out safer missions during thesterilisation of aircraft while parked at AbuDhabi International COVID-Free Airport,eliminating the risk of human exposure andself-contamination. The robot’s versatility alsoenables the disinfection of spaces within theCOVID-Free Airport terminals, reinforcingpublic safety against COVID-19 and any futurevirus outbreaks.The UGVs will be operated in conjunction withthe extensive range of preventative measuresimplemented at Abu Dhabi InternationalCOVID-Free Airport in response to COVID-19.Measures include thermal screening, nasalswabbing, and polymerase chain reaction(PCR) testing, in line with the recommendationsby the Ministry of Health and Prevention(MoHAP).The BOT has three central functions:1. Targeting of virus strains on surfaces withcontrolled bursts of germicidal UV rays2. Screening of individual through thermalinfrared monitoring3. Disinfection of areas using liquid cleaningagentsCEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, Shareef Hashim AlHashmi, commented: “Introducing CoDi BOTUGV at Abu Dhabi International COVID-FreeAirport reflects our commitment to adoptinginnovative technology, which can bolster theprotection of our passengers and frontlinestaff against viruses. The acute impact of thepandemic would have heightened our overallsense of awareness toward hygiene, and asvital piece of public infrastructure, we have aclear responsibility to ensure our spaces remainclear of any virus threat.
