The Construction Sector?
There’s no doubt that the current
COVID-19 pandemic has had a serious
impact on just about every aspect of our
lives. From an individual’s personal life to
entire industries the impact of COVID-19 all over
the world has been more significant than many
of us could have ever predicted. This has been felt
particularly strongly within the construction and
engineering industries. The impact of COVID-19
on the construction sector has been one of the most
significant and visible out of any other industry, but
the question is, what has that impact really been
and how can the construction recover from it?
The impact
The impact that the current COVID-19 pandemic
has had on the construction industry has been
massive and sudden. With the new rules around
self-isolation and social distancing, many
construction sites have been hit the hardest.
Not only are projects not being completed but
many are stuck in a state of disrepair for the
foreseeable future. Many people working within
the construction sector have had their businesses
impacted and many have predicted that they will
experience a significant, negative, financial impact
during this period because of the required closing
of sites and the need for employees to stay at home.
The response from the industry
It might all sound frightening when you look
at the impact that the pandemic has had on
the construction sector but the response from
the industry has been incredibly positive and
