Free live-streamed music and fitness festival ‘Stream<br />

<strong>The</strong> Beat’ was recently organised by Fresh Events<br />

Asia, as a way to cheer up those staying at home<br />

during the Movement Control Order while also<br />

raising money for charity. <strong>The</strong> event spanned 8<br />

hours, streamed over two sessions, and featured<br />

an impressive line-up of star-studded music acts<br />

including Malaysian rapper SonaOne and Simon<br />

Webbe from British boy band, Blue; fitness and<br />

wellness activities featuring Hansen Lee and Nana<br />

Al-Haleq, and even cooking classes by the likes of<br />

chef Anis Nabilah. Viewers were encouraged to<br />

donate to <strong>The</strong> Lost Food Project, a pioneering food<br />

bank in Malaysia, that was running an emergency<br />

food and fund drive to ensure that vulnerable<br />

charities and B40 families receive the food they<br />

needed to survive this difficult period.<br />

Hot Pink Party Raises USD5.2 Million<br />

Every year, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation would throw<br />

an evening gala to raise funds for research into finding a cure for<br />

cancer and treatment of patients. However, due to social distancing<br />

restrictions brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, a soiree was<br />

out of the question. As with other charitable endeavours around<br />

the world, this year saw the foundation throwing their first ever<br />

Virtual Hot Pink Evening. Streamed online, viewers and donours<br />

were treated to performances by Broadway star Norbert Leo Butz,<br />

belting out “Something’s Coming” from West Side Story, and the<br />

stars of musical In <strong>The</strong> Heights performing a heartfelt tribute for<br />

cancer victims and survivors. With appearances by Elton John,<br />

Elizabeth Hurley, Karlie Kloss, Edie Falco, Rachael Ray and<br />

many others, the program raised at least USD5.2 million for the<br />

research centre.<br />

Aid For Single Mothers<br />

While single mothers face a hard battle of<br />

juggling work and raising kids single-handedly,<br />

the COVID-19 pandemic has exponentially made<br />

it worse. To ensure that they could still provide<br />

food at home for their families, Kraft Heinz,<br />

one of the largest food companies in the world,<br />

partnered with Malaysian Red Crescent on the<br />

#responsMalaysia project, where the company<br />

contributed 30,000 bottles of Kicap ABC sauce<br />

and food packs containing essentials such as rice,<br />

salt, sugar and cooking oil. This contribution is part<br />

of Kraft Heinz’s global commitment in donating<br />

USD12.0 million globally to ensure that people<br />

across the world have enough sustenance amid this<br />

challenging time. <strong>The</strong> brand is also working with<br />

other food partners across the globe, including in<br />

the United States, UK, Netherlands, France, Italy,<br />

Spain, Russia, Poland, Australia, New Zealand,<br />

Brazil, Costa Rica and Asia.<br />
