The teenage virtuoso, who is also a<br />
talented pianist, will perform aviolin<br />
recital includingthe worksof<br />
Beethoven, Brahms, and Wieniawski.<br />
He has won international violin<br />
competitions in New York, the Czech<br />
Republic and Italy. The 18yearold<br />
has been studying the violinwith<br />
Stephen Larsen,one of New<br />
Zealand’s preeminent violinand<br />
viola teachers,since the age of seven.<br />
The concert begins at 7.30pm.Tickets<br />
cost $35 for adults and $15 for<br />
students. They are available from the<br />
Rangiora Library.<br />

The <strong>July</strong> 23 edition incorrectly<br />
reportedthat Rangioracouple Sandy<br />
and Jason Watson founded the<br />
SamoanVictimsSupport Group. The<br />
couple establishedthe Pacific Island<br />
Hope Missiontosupport the Samoan<br />
Victims Support Group,which was<br />
establishedin2018 to support<br />
families affectedbyCyclone Gita.<br />
The group’s work has expanded to<br />
supportwomen and children<br />
affected by Covid19. Sandy said she<br />
was overwhelmed by the support for<br />
the mission’s effortsonFriday, <strong>July</strong><br />
17, when two shipping containers<br />
were loaded with goods with help<br />
from the New ZealandDefence<br />
Force. Donations are already coming<br />
in for anotherconsignment to be sent<br />
to Samoa, expected to be in October.<br />
