' I cannot go, sir, thank you.'
' We give you till to-morrow. Go home at
once ; consult your mother. Such a chance may
never happen to you again. Go now, and meet
us here to-morrow at noon.'
Allen retired. lie went home and told his
mother of the olfer which had been made him.
The widow clasped lier hands and bej/an to
shed tears of joy.
* I must lose you, Allen,' she said ;
