The newly renamed Mill<br />
House Kitchen opened at the<br />
endoflastweekand is the<br />
secondeatery in town for Mr<br />
Milmine andwife Nicky,who<br />
own andoperate theSomerset<br />
Grocer, abusiness they bought<br />
from <strong>Ashburton</strong>Trust in 2016.<br />
Mr Milmine said he and his<br />
wifewereexcited by the<br />
opportunity and were up for the<br />
challenge.<br />
They had beeninvolved in<br />
hospitality for over 30 yearsand<br />
believed the new venue was a<br />
‘‘hidden treasure’’.<br />
He said the couple looked<br />
forwardtoputting their mark<br />
on it andgrowing it further.<br />
Mill House Kitchen is open<br />
sevendaysaweekandoffers<br />
breakfast andlunch menus, as<br />
well as cabinet food like cakes<br />
and slices, and drinks.<br />
It is licensed andevening<br />
functionsare afuture option<br />
for the new owners.<br />
‘‘It’s in such agreat location<br />
and it was the outdoor area that<br />
really sold it to us,’’ said Mr<br />
Milmine.<br />
He said there was already a<br />
loyal localfollowing andplenty<br />
of passingtraffic on nearby<br />
SH1.<br />
Anew kitchen had been fitted<br />
after recent restrengthening<br />
work andthedecorwas amix of<br />
modern andtraditional.<br />
Menu offerings include<br />
mushroom gnocchi, risotto,<br />
steamed bao buns, aruben<br />
sandwich and Frenchtoast.<br />
Mr Milmine said Mill House<br />
Kitchen was finding its feet in<br />
terms of systems and recruiting<br />
for another chef and other staff.<br />

Sir Richard, regarded as<br />
one of the greatest fast<br />
bowlers in cricketing history,<br />
will be the guest speaker at a<br />
special breakfastonOctober<br />
8then tee off in the golf<br />
tournament later in the day.<br />

said the breakfastand the golf<br />
tournament were two<br />
separate fundraising events,<br />
and tickets would be<br />
available soon.<br />
At the catered breakfast at<br />
the <strong>Ashburton</strong> Golf Club, Sir<br />
Richard will speak and show<br />
some cricketingmemorabilia;<br />
he will takepartinaquestion<br />
and answersession andalive<br />
radio interview with<br />
Hokonui’s Phill Hooper.<br />
The former NewZealand<br />
cricketer played86test<br />
matches over 18 years,<br />
captured 431 test wickets and<br />
scoredover 3000 test runs. He<br />
is in remissionafter abattle<br />
with cancer.<br />
Sir Richard is also alongtime<br />
golfer and will take part<br />
in the charity tournament .<br />
The Lions club is raising<br />
funds for the Chris Ruth<br />
Centre Trust and the<br />
<strong>Ashburton</strong> River cycle track;<br />
the trust helpsadults with<br />
Richard Hadlee.<br />
