Guthrie Bowron Rangiorahas
overwhelmed staff at the
Amberley Community Pre­
School Centre.
The centrewon 100 litres of
paint, worth $3000, in a Berger
Paintfor aMate competition.
Decksand bathroom walls
at the community facility are
now sportingafresh new look.
Berger provided 100 litres
to all Guthrie Bowron stores.
Each store nominated three
localcommunity groups, and
20 HOURS FREE ECE

Toy libraries offer
affordable options
Toy librariesare alow cost way for
families to accessthe latest toys.
There are active toy librariesall over
North Canterbury that are run by
volunteers. Theyallowfamilies to borrow
toyswithout the big expense.
‘‘Itmeans you don’t have to buy the big
toys. You can borrow it and save money,
and we havelots of lovely toys,’’ Hawarden/
Waikari Toy Library president Brona
Youngman says.
The grouphas focused on buying
sensorytoys and the bigger,more
expensivetoys which many families would
not otherwisebeable to afford.
‘‘Weare starting to be abit moreclever
about whatwebuy and we are listening to
the mums to make sure we are buying
things the kids will play with.’’
The Hawarden/Waikari Toy Library
meets in the RSA RoomsonO’Carrolls
Road, Hawarden, on Mondays from 3pm to
3.45pm and can be contacted via its

The Amberley Toy Library Inc meets in
the Plunket rooms,behind the Amberley
Library, and is open on Tuesdays from9am
