What will I learn?
Year 1:
During year one you'll gain a broad knowledge
of business including finance, marketing,
events management, recruitment and
enterprise. You'll also complete:
Employer Led Project:
You'll plan, market and manage an event with one of
our partner organisations. This project will push you
to the limits, developing your communication, team
working and project management skills.
As part of the project you'll design and deliver the
marketing for the event with the use of industry
standard software including Canva, Adobe photoshop
and Trello. Digital marketing plays a key part in this
project and you will gain an understanding of:

CRO (conversion rate optimisation)
social media/Google ads (PPC)
Google/social media analytics.
Following the event you will analyse and feed back the
results to the partner organisations, communicating
lessons learned just like you would in a real life agency.
Recruitment Exercise:
During this project you get to gain an insight from
a human resource specialist into how a local
employer recruits. You will then use this knowledge
to work as a team to recruit for a vacancy. To give
you the employment edge you will be interviewed
by a specialist in your chosen future career.
Start Up Pitch:
The year will end on a high with you developing your
very own business plan which you will pitch to a panel
of entrepreneurs. As part of this project you will get
the chance to attend Newcastle Startup week where
you'll hear from and meet successful entrepreneurs
who will help you to shape your business plan.

Year 2:
Following successful completion of year one you'lll
step up and become a decision maker in international
business. As well as this, you'll get the opportunity to
specialise in one of the following areas:
Investment Finance and Accounting:
Do you enjoy working with numbers, have a good
eye for spotting mistakes and want to invest on the
stock exchange? You'll earn how to record financial
information, draw up financial accounts and the ways to
invest finance. Alongside this you'll take part in a virtual
stock exchange competition. Who will grow the largest
portfolio?
International retail, buying and merchandising
Do you want to work in the fast moving industry of retail,
forecasting trends, testing products and understanding
what makes customers tick? You will gain a broad
understanding of the retail industry, how it responds
to changes and forecasts trends. Understanding the
psychology behind customers and managing the
supply chain is key to success. You will test what you've
learned by creating a visual merchandising display at
the Metrocentre.
Digital marketing:
Are you creative and love working with social media and
websites? You'll build on your work in year one gaining
further insight into branding and digital marketing. You'll
undertake further research into how social media can
influence customer behaviour and gain results for a
business. You will then get to put what you have learned
into practice through the development of a social media
campaign for one of our partner marketing agencies.
Law and human resource management:
Through this option you will gain an understanding
of what it's like to develop people in the world of HR
(human resources). Attention to detail is vital, you'll learn
what you need to do to comply with employment law
as well as gaining an insight into criminal law. You will
hear from judges, magistrates and other professionals
in addition to attending the court room and conducting
mock trials.
