Two GCSE grades at 3 or above.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

This course will develop your<br />

knowledge and skills in early years.<br />

You’ll gain an understanding of<br />

childcare, child development,<br />

child safety, learning and play and<br />

communication.<br />

You will learn and develop your<br />

skills by attending guest lectures,<br />

completing projects, presentations,<br />

posters and displays and through<br />

going on trips and visits, for example<br />

to Beamish Museum and the<br />

Centre for Life. You’ll also gain<br />

fantastic hands-on experience<br />

during supervised work placements<br />

in a range of settings including<br />

nurseries and primary schools.<br />

Throughout the course you’ll<br />

develop your digital skills and you’ll<br />

continue to study English and<br />

maths.<br />

On completion of this course,<br />

you may progress on to the Level 2<br />

programme.<br />

Three GCSE grades at 9-4 including<br />

English language and ideally maths.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

If you have career aspirations<br />

of becoming an Early Years<br />

practitioner and working with<br />

children aged 0-5 then this is the<br />

perfect course for you.<br />

You'll gain excellent knowledge on<br />

a range of subjects linked to your<br />

specialised early years course.<br />

These include: child development,<br />

safeguarding, equality and diversity,<br />

and supporting children with<br />

special educational needs.<br />

Your learning will be delivered<br />

through classwork, interactive<br />

practical activities and<br />

demonstrations. Your IT skills will<br />

be honed and we will also use a<br />

blended learning model through<br />

our on-line platforms.<br />

This course will enable you to work<br />

with children of different ages within<br />

a nursery environment and you’ll<br />

undertake a work placement of 250<br />

hours.<br />

If you'd like to continue developing<br />

your knowledge and skills in college<br />

you have the option to progress to<br />

the Level 3 Diploma in Education<br />

and Childcare or the T Level in<br />

Education and Childcare.<br />

Five GCSE grades at 4 or above<br />

including English and maths.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

This two year programme of study<br />

will prepare you to become an<br />

early years educator. You’ll become<br />

qualified and licenced to work with<br />

children in an unsupervised role<br />

from birth to five years, as well as<br />

gaining knowledge of children aged<br />

five to seven years of age.<br />

You will complete work placements<br />

in industry and get the skills you<br />

need for work.<br />

You'll learn about a range of topics<br />

including health and wellbeing,<br />

legislation, learning for school<br />

readiness and professional<br />

development.<br />

This course is for 2 years and you'll<br />

also study the the Level 3 Certificate<br />

as part of it.<br />
