REOPENING PLAN | 34COVID-19SICK POLICYThe School recognizes its obligation to protect the rights of individuals with infectious diseases such asCOVID-19 and to provide a safe environment for students, staff, and the community.The nurse and teachers must report sick children or any health related concerns to the Administration. Ifdeemed necessary for the student’s well-being and the safety of others, the parents will be contacted andasked to have a physician or health professional evaluate these children.
PRIOR TO ARRIVING IN SCHOOL PARENTS NEED TO• Take temperature at home: Keep student at home if temperature is over 99.5ºF (37.5ºC) and/or the studentpresents symptoms• Notify the school via email• Follow steps below:REOPENING PLAN | 35AMILD SYMPTOMS AND MILD FEVERLESS THAN 99.5ºF (37.5ºC)• Evaluation and Observation.• This includes absence from school activities for aminimum period of 24 hours.• 24 hours without any fever without the use offever reducing medications• No symptoms are present• Alternative diagnosis and medical clearance toreturn to EABFEVER OVER 99.5ºF (37.5ºC)• No COVID-19 symptoms and NO risk factors- They need a medical evaluation to provide analternative diagnosis to COVID-19.- 24 hours without fever, without the use of feverreducing medications- No symptoms are present- Alternative diagnosis and medical clearance toreturn to EACFEVER OVER 99.5ºF (37.5ºC)• COVID-19 symptoms and/or risk factors withouta specific diagnostic test- They will need a medical evaluation to determinethe severity of symptoms.- 72 hours with improvement of symptoms andwithout a fever, without the use of medicationsto control fever.- Medical record and definitive diagnosis to returnto EA.DFEVER OVER 99.5ºF (37.5ºC)• COVID-19 symptoms and/or risk factors with aspecific diagnostic test- Case: Isolation for 10 days - Cleared when no feverfor 24 hours without the use of fever reducingmedications and improvement of symptoms- Contacts: Quarantine for 14 days. Cleared after 14days if no symptoms developedIf when in school the student presents any of the above: The nurse will determine whether to send the student back toclass or to go home. Students are not allowed to loiter in the nurse’s office or to use it as a student lounge. The nurse willnot diagnose illnesses or prescribe medications.• Ministry of Health has additional information reporting requirements.
