The holidays are only as spirited as your
own spirit allows them to be. Big families
can’t get together — the restrictions
can have you feeling down.
Here’s where East Lynne Theater
Company comes to the rescue! Yuletide Tales:
Stories and Songs for the Season is a collection o
musical performances and holiday readings
that will cheer you up for sure!
ELTC’s Artistic Director Gayle Stahlhuth
has hand-selected wonderful gits for all

friends! The evening starts with music from
Holly and Will Knapp, a rocking version o
Jingle Bells! Their rendition o this holiday
favorite will have your mood lited and feet
tapping.
Next up is one o my favorites from town.
Susan Tischler, you know who I’m talking
about! Her reading o the Old Applejoy’s Ghost
by Frank R. Stockton will warm you up quicker
than a cup o cocoa. Cape May loves its ghosts,
and Old Applejoy wants to remind you that,
no matter your circumstances, you can have
a cheerful heart — a perfect message for this
challenging year.
Leah and Jay Eppenbach — also known as
the Honeyhawks — are delightful! You know
when you’ve heard a holiday song so much
that you feel there isn’t a new way to do it?
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is one o
those songs for me, until now. These two have
composed their version o the song that makes
you sit up and take notice. Their rendition
nearly brought me to tears. Bravo to these two.
Mirama’s Christmas Test — read by Stephanie
Garrett, written by A. Thomas Fortune — tells
the story o a strong schoolteacher who gives
her iancé a unique Christmas challenge. Will
he put aside his own ego to meet her demand
this Christmas Eve?
Barry Tischler (vocals/guitar) and Tom
Naglee (iddle) perform Santa Claus Is Coming
to Town and Silver Bells. Barry and Tom play
all around town so it’s good to allow them to
come into your home for the holidays. James
Rana performs Mark Twain’s classic, Letter
from Santa Claus. The Knapps and Honeyhawks
both return for one more song each, and Gayle
Stahlhuth performs A Great Tree by Zona Gale.
You need this holiday spirit — especially
this year. There is so much local talent in
this production, Yuletide Tales is like a visit
with family complete with stories and music.
