Shake off the shackles of lockdown and
enjoy some of the food, wine and craft
brewing in South Australia.
Adelaide is up on a pedestal when It comes to the diversity and
quality of restaurants, with the small bar scene now pushing out
into the suburbs. The metropolitan coastal strip from Semaphore
to Seacliff and beyond is a “must” in summer, while the Adelaide
Hills, with its burgeoning reputation as a cool climate wine region,
is worth a visit at any time of year. The Hills, along with the Fleurieu
Peninsula and Kangaroo Island, are studded with cafes, restaurants
and wineries, as well as chocolatiers and cheese makers.

Port Lincoln is Australia's seafood capital and is home to
Australia’s biggest commercial fishing fleet. Whether it’s fresh
whiting, export quality tuna, abalone or freshly shucked Coffin Bay
oysters, seafood aficionados will be in heaven!
For lovers of great wine, the Barossa, Clare, McLaren Vale and
Coonawarra provide premium wine and a relaxing cellar door
experience. The Limestone Coast is home to the Coonawarra,
Wrattonbully, Mount Benson, Mount Gambier and Padthaway wine
regions. There are more than 40 cellar doors to choose from
including Coonawarra's hidden gem, Brand's Laira, an iconic winery
nestled in the famed 'terra rossa' strip of the Coonawarra region.
They are well known for their high quality wines (see ad below).
Many wineries also have wonderful restaurants in classic vineyard
settings, perfect for a long, indulgent lunch. There’s no doubt that
good food and wonderful wines can make a good holiday great, so
enjoy the best South Australia has to offer.

You can explore the many food markets which also have great
dining experiences. In Adelaide you can’t go past Adelaide Central
Market, as well as the Adelaide Farmers' Market (see separate story
below), Plant 4 Bowden and the Market Shed On Holland. For
Australia’s best local produce further afield, try the Stirling Market,
Willunga Farmers' Market, Goolwa Wharf Market, Stansbury
Seaside Market, Sevenhill Producers' Market, Barossa Farmers'
Market… the list is seemingly endless.
