LET'S GO CARAVAN & CAMPING IN SA South Australia is a state of contrasts and surprises. There are 11 distinct regions to explore, encompassing everything from rugged coasts to sandy swimming beaches, wine country, the mighty Murray River and the awesome Outback. Anyone with a passion for nature and wildlife is particularly well catered for. The state features vast expanses of untouched beaches and wilderness with some stunning national and conservation parks along the way. South Australia’s popularity as a travel destination also has a lot to do with good living. Fresh, quality food, award winning wines, vibrant arts festivals and major national and international sporting events are part of the locals’ lifestyle. Eat and drink your way around world famous wine regions such as the Barossa and Clare Valley, visit Adelaide’s vibrant Central Market or relax on one of the city’s many multicultural café strips. This guide contains information on each region, along with extensive road maps, detailed caravan park facilities listings, and some great articles on things to see and do around the state. In current times, and with more travellers embarking on self-drive holidays in Australia, it’s a good idea to plan ahead and book your stay. Of course, if you get caught up in the ambience of your SA holiday and don’t quite know where you may land for the night, you can always ring ahead and see if the next park on your journey has a cabin or site available. More information on parks is also available at www.sa-parks.com.au TRAVELLING WITH PETS & PET FRIENDLY CARAVAN PARKS Look for the 'pet friendly park' symbol to know which caravan parks will welcome your pet 4 PET FRIENDLY PARK Some important things to remember when travelling with your pet: • Always ring ahead to check your pet will be welcome. Caravan parks that accept pets will have conditions, e.g. only certain animals, or pets only during peak periods. • Pets are generally accepted on sites and in your accommodation. They will usually not be allowed in cabins or in amenities areas. • Some caravan parks now offer pet friendly cabin accommodation. Parks that offer this, will state this in their listing. • When contacting the park, talk to park managers about pet rules and pet friendly common areas. Some parks offer spaces that allow owners and pets to socialise off-site. • Pets will not enjoy their holiday if left unattended, so if you are leaving the park, always take your pet with you. • Remember to keep your pet on a leash at all times and to clean up any mess immediately. • Barking dogs can be a nuisance and detract from people's enjoyment, please keep your dog quiet when staying in a park. • Please be aware that other people in the park are also on holiday, keep the impact of your pet to a minimum so that it does not detract from other people's enjoyment. • Guide dogs, hearing dogs, and assistance dogs are allowed different conditions to pets. Owners of such dogs are also advised to ring ahead and check with the caravan park.
