The Indiana Hospital Association (IHA)<br />

has presented the Family Birthing Centers of Community<br />

Healthcare System, which includes St. Mary Medical<br />

Center, with the INspire Hospital of Distinction 2020<br />

award in October 2020. The award recognizes staff<br />

for their commitment to doing everything possible to<br />

ensure the health of new moms and their babies from<br />

conception through postpartum care. “We are proud to<br />

be able to lead the way in creating effective solutions to<br />

help women and their babies have a healthy successful<br />

first year in life,” says Brittany Pankiewicz, Family Birthing<br />

Center nurse manager. Some of those creative solutions<br />

have led St. Mary Medical Center to be designated as<br />

a Baby-Friendly Hospital by Baby-Friendly USA. The<br />

nursery also has received Level II OB and Level II nursery<br />

from the Indiana State Board of Health. For more about<br />

Kids Alive<br />

International.<br />

Dukes has served as<br />

Kids Alive’s Country<br />

Director in Guatemala since 2009, where he established<br />

and led the development of a program that rescues girls<br />

and young women survivors of sexual violence, walking<br />

with them to wholeness and seeking justice for their<br />

abusers. Dukes has held various leadership positions in<br />

the corporate world as well as serving as administrative<br />

and missions pastor in Pawley’s Island Community<br />

Church, South Carolina. Dukes is married to Janie and<br />

they have two adult daughters. Kids Alive International<br />

is a Christian organization that rescues, redeems, and<br />

restores young lives to wholeness and freedom by<br />

providing physical and spiritual care for orphans and<br />

at-risk children. It currently has offices in 12 countries in<br />

Africa, Asia, Europe, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and<br />
