The sculpture is made of stainless steel with a special surfacing that Millard said will create different visuals based on the different lighting around it. The piece is located in front of the Riverwalk. Millard also created the Harrisburg Portal, a sculptural work celebrating the history of Augusta’s Harrisburg community. “Sun Lion” by D’jean Jawrunner of Tucumcari, N.M., is based on the native horned lizard also known as the ‘horny toad,’ an animal she has always been intrigued by and one she describes as ‘a friendly soul.’ The bronze sculpture was cast in 11 pieces and welded together. Jawrunner said, of all her projects, she has spent more time on this than any other.
