This will offer greater
flexibility to visitors,
whilst enabling them to
more efficiently regulate
the number of people
attending the fair at any
point in time.
Venue: (DIFC) from
29 Mar, to 3 Apr 2021
Art Dubai is a leading
international art fair, diving
into the life and practice
of a selection of some of
the finest practitioners
across the Global South. The 14th
edition of Art Dubai will happen in
Dubai International Financial Centre
(DIFC) from 29 March–3 April 2021,
with Magzoid as their Media Partner.
The new purpose-built structure
will house around 45 galleries, and
will run for an extended six days.
This will offer greater flexibility
to visitors, whilst enabling them
to more efficiently regulate the
number of people attending the fair
at any point in time, in accordance
with the necessary safety and
social distancing measures. A
booking system through their new
app will enable them to operate on
an appointment-only basis or open
as normal, a decision they will take
closer to the fair, guided by the
latest advice.
Having consulted all the
stakeholders and taken into account
a wide range of factors, they remain
confident in producing a physical
edition of this year’s fair. Their new
plan takes into account health and
safety protocols, travel and other
COVID-related restrictions, along
with the continued commitment
from their local community who wish
to attend an in-person art event.
It is expected that by the end of
March they will be able to operate
in a more open environment.
However, additional programming
and collateral exhibitions outside
the fair will be subject to conditions
at that time and will be announced
closer to the fair. If restrictions are
eased, the new location will allow
them to take advantage of the many
facilities DIFC offers, including
the region’s best restaurants and
members clubs, for social events
and wider programming.
Centrally set between new and
old Dubai, DIFC is a vivacious
financial center, business hub, and
resident to a variety of the region’s
best retailers, members clubs, and
restaurants. Every year Art Dubai
invites a creator or inventive to
participate in planning the fair’s
visual identity. Though the emblem
remains in its constant flux, annually
the visual campaign is reinvented
and takes on a brand-new aesthetic.
This method echo’s the originality
of Art Dubai’s program and also the
flexibility of the fair’s model. Art
Dubai has continued to figure with
Hani Charaf of native artistic studio
Kemistry Design, for the 2020
and 2021 visual campaigns. The
Art Dubai 2021 graphic campaign
celebrates the fiftieth day of the
unification of the United Arab
Emirates and options rare historical
pictures taken on 2 December
1971, showcasing the occasion
and festivities from the day the
agreement was made.
In an exceedingly similar style
of reflection and celebration of
the UAE’s history, the campaign
conjointly features images from
some of the earliest art exhibitions
to take place within the UAE.
