Thomas McConohy’s journey in life took him from
his family farm near DeWitt, across Eastern
Iowa for education and work, and now back
to the farm where he grew up. Today, with
support from a scholarship overseen by the
LincolnWay Community Foundation, he’s one of many
community members building a strong DeWitt area.
The Community Foundation supports efforts to make
the region a place where people want to live. These
efforts, whether scholarships like the one Thomas
received or grants to local nonprofits, are made
possible by local generosity, a dedicated board with a
committed staff member, and the Forever LincolnWay
Endowment Fund. This fund helps ensure the Foundation
can continue improving quality of life for DeWitt area
residents like Thomas – today, tomorrow and forever.

Lori Loch is focused on the future of our
communities as she steps into the role of
executive director of the Community Foundation
of Jackson County.
Lori lives near Bellevue and farms with her
husband and two sons. The Loch family works together
to cut wood, bale hay and care for their cattle, horses,
chickens and pigs, and they enjoy gardening as a family.
“I love the discipline, responsibility and entrepreneurship
the farm teaches our kids,” she says. “They take pride in
their work and know we are a team.”
In her new role, Lori will work to fulfill the Foundation’s
mission through endowment-building, grant-making and
community engagement. Her background in investment
services and retirement planning will help donors
and nonprofit leaders accomplish their goals. Gifts
