THE DISTRICT now has a
sports centre it can truly be
proud of.
On Sunday, thousands
turned out for the opening
of the $21.5 million facility
– the largest indoor sports
centre in Canterbury –
which is sited at Foster Park
in Rolleston.
This positions the district
not only for its own indoor
sports but as a top-notch
facility to draw big games
from outside of Selwyn.
The 8000 sq m centre
features New Zealand’s
first interactive digital
playground, along with eight
sports courts, a 240m indoor
walking track and space for
community sports groups to
operate.
Selwyn sports groups, as
expected, are very happy
with the facility.
“I think it’s a fantastic step
forward for the community,”
says Selwyn United Football
Club president Darren
Sudlow.
