The tallest poppy
Standing at two metres high, Kieran Ball really is the tallest
Tall Poppy of them all.
Kieran, tell us a little about why you chose real estate.
In 2018, I was a personal trainer and one of my clients, who was
a very successful real estate agent, told me I would make a good
agent. My friends were also telling me the same thing! But I pushed
it to the back of my mind. But last year, when Covid-19 took away
plans for me to do my OE, I decided it was time to take a leap of
faith into real estate – and I haven’t looked back.
What was it about Tall Poppy and Debi Pratt
that drew you to the brand?
It was the Tall Poppy values and ethos that
spoke to me. They gave me a gut feeling
that it was where I belonged. Right from
the minute I met Debi, she was welcoming,
approachable and a pleasure to deal with. I
think we spoke for around 20 minutes about
life, fitness and diets before we even got into
the real estate chat, which is exactly how I like
to operate.
What is your approach when working
with clients?
It is the genuine touch – this is why you never
see me wearing a three-piece, pinstripe suit
and tie because that corporate image simply
is not me. Real estate is a people business,
so you have to be yourself and for me that
means having fun, being professional, building
rapport, all while making the process exciting
– because buying and selling houses is exciting!
Debi, you have added yet another member
to the Tall Poppy family. What are the
qualities you look for when bringing on
another team member?
I look for the basic human values of kindness,
openness and a genuine desire to do right by
people – and he meets all of those!
Why is Kieran a good fit for Tall Poppy?
From our first meeting, Kieran showed all the
qualities I value. He was also in a corporate
environment and felt uncomfortable with the
high-fee structure and how it was apportioned.
Our model is completely different – and, I
feel, a lot fairer to both our vendors and our
salespeople, so he really responded to this.
Apart from that, he is just a super nice guy.
What are you most proud of from those
who work with the Tall Poppy brand?
My team all care and help each other out,
which is so refreshing in this industry. I’m
really proud that I am building this foundation.
