Roberto Paniagua
(BBA11)
An account executive at Google,
Roberto Paniagua has been
extremely involved in the life
of the college since he began
his studies at Tippie. As an
undergrad, he was named to
the Tippie 21 Under 21, was
an Iowa Edge peer leader, and
was awarded the Hancher-
Finkbine Medallion for his
fundraising efforts for the Tippie
Build program. As an alum, he
continues to give back. He has
served on the Young Alumni
Board, been a panelist for the
Tippie Gateway Program, helped
secure space in Google offices
for a Tippie Women in Business
conference, and is a generous
mentor to Tippie students and
alumni.

Sue Taylor
(MBA01)
Sue Taylor, chief information
officer of the Bill & Melinda Gates
Foundation, has been an amazing
partner to the Tippie College
of Business and its students.
Examples of her involvement
with the life of the college include
serving on the Tippie Advisory
Board, speaking in numerous
classes, and helping Tippie
secure a case sponsorship
from the Bill & Melinda Gates
Foundation for the college’s
2021 Business Analytics Case
Competition. Since 2001, she has
also become a philanthropist,
donating to the college’s MBA
program, the Tippie Excellence
Fund, and the College of Business
Scholarship Fund. The college
also congratulates Taylor on
being named the Seattle Chief
Information Officer of the Year
in the global division by the
SeattleCIO organization.
2000s
Michael Bousselot (BBA05/
MAc06) was appointed
director of the Department of
Management for the state of
Iowa. In this role he oversees
the state’s budget planning,
including Iowa’s coronavirus
relief fund and CARES Act
information. He previously
served as chief of staff, legal
counsel, and policy advisor for
Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad.
Caitlin Hickey (BBA05)
is a systems administrator for
Segal McCambridge Singer &
Mahoney in Chicago, Ill.
Francesca Lavoriero
(CERT09) is the senior vice
president of human resources,
Key & Wall Solutions Segment
with Dormakaba Group in Vittorio
Veneto, Italy. Lavoriero
earned an ECIMS (Executive
Certificate in International Management
& Strategy) from the
Tippie College of Business.
Ryan Lindsley (BBA07)
relocated from the Chicago
suburbs to Des Moines, Iowa,
to join Kum & Go as vice president
of digital technology.
Michael L. Lovell (MBA04)
was elected to the Iowa
Association of Business and
Industry board of directors. He
is an investor relations director
with Meredith Corp. in Des
Moines, Iowa.
Joseph McSpadden
(MBA09) earned a CFA charter
in February 2021. McSpadden
is a senior advisor for FedEx
Freight in Arkansas.
Christopher J. Nelson
(MBA05) is the vice president
of Nelson Electric Company in
Ames, Iowa.
Tom Niblock (BBA07) is a
special assistant in the Office
of the Counselor at the U.S.
Department of State.
Dean Oliver (BBA01)
is the assistant men’s basketball
coach for the University
of Wisconsin. While a starting
guard for Iowa, he led the
Hawkeyes to the Sweet 16 and
ranks second all-time in career
steals and fourth in assists.
Mike D. Phillips (BBA04)
was named chief financial
officer of InvenTrust, an Illinois-based
corporation that
owns and manages retail
properties.
Jon Sargent (BBA05) was
named “Forty Under 40” by the
Des Moines Business Record.
Sargent is the president and
CEO of Todd & Sargent Inc.,
a design-build industrial contractor
serving the needs of
agricultural/industrial clients
across the U.S. and Canada.
Eden Simmer (BBA05) and
Anthony Vollaro welcomed
Zoe Simmer Vollaro into
their family on December 16,
2020. Simmer is the head
of global equity trading at
PIMCO in New York City.
Janet W. Morissette
Swanson (MBA03) was
married in June 2019, a month
before her retirement from
John Deere.
