Harris J. Frank
June 15, 1925 – October 19, 2020
Philanthropist, community leader, and businessman Harris Frank
passed away at the age of 95. He was the benefactor of the Judith
R. Frank Business Communication Center at the Tippie College
of Business. Born and raised in St. Louis, Harris Frank received
his Bachelor of Science degree in naval science in 1945 from the
University of Southern California. Shortly thereafter, he married Judith
and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage before her passing in 2009.
His professional career was spent at Solon Gershman Inc./Gershman
Commercial Real Estate for more than 50 years. He is survived
by his two children, H. John Frank Jr. and Tippie emerita faculty
member Nancy Hauserman, four grandchildren, and six
great-grandchildren.
Henry J. Meyer
January 25, 1927 – December 26, 2020
UI supporter and former Amana Refrigeration CEO Henry Meyer
passed away at the age of 93. Meyer served on the Tippie Board of
Visitors (1989-1992) and was awarded the Oscar C. Schmidt Iowa
Business Leadership Award by the college in 1991.
John D. Mittelstaedt (PhD95)
October 3, 1963 – December 8, 2020
Marketing researcher and academic leader John Mittelstaedt lost his
battle with cancer at the age of 57. At his passing, he was the dean of the
University of Dayton School of Business Administration. Mittelstaedt is
survived by his wife, Patrice Noel, whom he met through the UI Sailing Club,
and their sons, Matthew and Marlow.
Aristotle G. Pappajohn (BSC52)
December 28, 1929 – December 24, 2020
Businessman Aristotle “Tel” Pappajohn passed away peacefully in his
home at the age of 90 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
He was the middle Pappajohn brother, preceded in death by Socrates,
and survived by his older brother, John Pappajohn (BSC52/LHD10).
