Local schools come together for Matariki<br />

thePuketarakiKahui Ako to<br />
participate in aMatariki<br />
celebrationatRangiora<br />
Library on Wednesday, June<br />
30,which included making<br />
Matarikistarsfromharakeke<br />
(flax), reading to children from<br />
Swannanoa PreSchool and<br />
learning the kahui ako waiata.<br />
After sharing some kai<br />
(food), thechildren ventured<br />
outinto the streetstoperform<br />
thewaiata andtogive away<br />
theirMatarikistars.<br />

Harakeke stars ... Bridie Gray, an across school teacher based at<br />
