celebratedsignificant milestones<br />

achievedbyfive of its players with abig<br />

win in front of alarge crowdatKendall<br />

ParkinKaiapoi on June 26.<br />

It has been abig seasonfor Brad<br />

Stewart and Kane Fraser, withboth<br />

players notchinguptheir 200th gamefor<br />

the club, while MitchellQuigley,Luke<br />

Fraser and LucasClark have all played<br />

their100th game.<br />

The club’s senior men’s firstteam,<br />

playing in MainlandFootball's<br />

<strong>Canterbury</strong> ChampionshipLeague<br />

competition honoured their achievement<br />

last Saturdaybywinning their game<br />

against ParklandsUnited 6­0,with all<br />

goalsscored by DannyLoney.<br />

At arecognition ceremony after<br />

Saturday’s gamethe club’sgeneral<br />

manager, AmyPawson,said the game<br />

was acelebration match for the five<br />

players.<br />

‘‘Congratulations to Brad and Kane for<br />

reachingtheir 200th milestone and<br />

Mitchell, Luke and Lucasonreaching<br />

their100th milestone,’’ she said.<br />

‘‘Thesenior men's first team played a<br />

fantastic gameinfrontofalarge home<br />

crowdatKendall Park.<br />

‘‘They haveput in atremendous effort<br />

this season to get themselves to where<br />

they arenow,sitting at the top of the<br />

<strong>Canterbury</strong> Championshipleaguetable.<br />

We are extremely proudofthe whole<br />

team and wish them all the best for the<br />

rest of the season.’’<br />

thanked the players for providing great<br />

role models for youngerclub members.<br />

youthplayers are proud and passionate<br />

about playing forour senior teams, both<br />

at social and competitive level,’’ she said.<br />

Bradjoined the clubasateenager,<br />

after his familyemigratedfrom the<br />

United Kingdomand by the age of 15 he<br />

wasplaying seniorfootball.<br />

He played for manyseasonsbefore<br />

taking asix­yearbreak and rejoined the<br />

teamthis season.<br />

He canplay in midfield and defence,<br />

hasahigh workrate andhas been agreat<br />

voice of experience for the squad this<br />

year.<br />

Kanebeganplaying football as afouryear­oldwith<br />

RangioraAFC,beforethe<br />

mergerofthe formerthreeWaimakariri<br />

football clubs to formthe Waimakariri<br />

United Football Club in 20<strong>08</strong>.<br />

Apart frombriefstints away, Kane has<br />

playedseniorfootball for the clubsince<br />

he was 15 and is awell respectedsenior<br />

player.<br />

Mitchell alsobeganhis football career<br />

withRangiora AFC, and apart fromone<br />

season off,hehas only everplayed for the<br />

Waimakariri UnitedFootball Club.<br />

He is ano­nonsense defender, with<br />

tremendous aerialability.<br />

Lucasisanother one­clubman,having<br />

started with Rangiora AFC,before the<br />

merger.<br />

He is ahard running left­sidedefender<br />

whohas developed hisattacking game<br />

during recent seasonsand has scored<br />

somespectacular goals.<br />

Lukebeganplaying football with<br />

Kaiapoi TownAFC at age four.<br />

Apart from ashort stintinthe<br />

Mainland PremierLeague with FC<br />

Twenty, Luke has played senior football<br />

for theWaimakariri United Football<br />

Clubsincehewas 16. He is an attacking<br />

midfielder.<br />

Splash for Cash champion<br />

Raewyn Bishop, of Total Realty<br />

Rangiora, has been named the ‘‘Splash<br />

for Cash’’ champion trophy winner from<br />

the Charles Upham Rangiora Big Splash<br />

held last month.<br />

She raised awhopping $3,502 for the<br />

Rangiora Stroke Club for the Big Splash<br />

held at the Rangiora RSA.<br />

‘‘Raewyn took fundraising to the next<br />

level and blew us away with her<br />

fundraising ideas and the amount she<br />

raised for the Rangiora Stroke Club,’’<br />

Rangiora Promotions says.<br />

For her efforts, a$250 donation will be<br />

made to Raewyn’s chosen charity,<br />

Conductive Education <strong>Canterbury</strong>.<br />

In second place in the ‘‘Splash for<br />

Cash’’ was Scott Murray, of ANZ, who<br />

raised $3,214. Adonation will be made to<br />

his chosen charity, Learning Needs<br />

Library Inc. (aka Christchurch Special<br />

Needs Library).<br />

Marea McLennan, of Unichem Medical<br />

Corner Pharmacy Rangiora, raised $2100<br />

to take third place, with adonation to be<br />
