Westville Boys’ High is an internationally recognized school which

We know the last few years have been a challenge, so this
quote has been something we have aspired to at Westville
Boys’ High School. There has been so much “Good Stuff” to
choose to see and to celebrate in 2021.
The year started with the news that our Dux Shaheen
Govender was placed 2 nd in the province for the 2020
National Senior Certificate, our Proxime Accessit Hemal
Harkhu 5 th and Kiarin Naidoo 7 th , making it 3 in the Top Ten in
the province for academics. WBHS had a 100% pass rate in
12 subjects.
Two of our top swimmers, Luca Holzhausen and Guy Brooks
toppled seven standing records including 3 of Chad le Clos’.
18 Year-old matric pupil Bongamusa Musa was capped for
the SA Men’s Indoor Hockey Team.
Shrivar Singh was awarded the top honour in the President’s
Award – a gold certificate.
Eight of our players were selected for representative teams
in KZN Squash, and six for KZN Tennis Teams.
Bryce Calvert and Gcinokuhle Mdletshe were selected for
the SA U18 High Performance Rugby Squad.
Our Performing Arts came alive again with Steven Stead
directing “Perchance to Dream” as an outdoor theatre
production to critical acclaim.
Of the 24 pupils in KZN who progressed to the 3rd Round of
the South African Maths Olympiad for 2021, four were from
WBHS.
Braydon Rutherford was selected for the DCDL & KZN
Debating squads
WBHS came second in SA for the National Geography
Olympiad and Cade Bohnen shared 3 rd place nationally.
Our Interact Task Team continue to inspire with their ongoing
service to others, in particular with their weekly commitment
to making sandwiches for the homeless in Pinetown.
Two of our old boys were chosen for this year’s Survivor SA –
Kiran Naidoo and Tyson Zulu.
Five old boys, four different sports and three countries were
represented at the Tokyo Olympics: Mohamed Mea: SA
Hockey, Chad le Clos: SA Swimming, Zane Weir: Italy
Shotput, Peter Wetzlar: Zimbabwe Swimming, Yaseen
Margro: SA Water Polo.
Sasasa Dlamini graduated from Harvard University. He
was awarded a Full Scholarship to the Ivy League School
in 2017.
Campus projects have included nine new cricket nets,
an outdoor multi-sport court, an upgraded Grade 12
break area, a renovated Grade 8 Boarding House,
changerooms for the astro and a media centre
upgrade.
