Be sure to get outside and enjoy everything the season has to offer. It is finally time to gently reopen the doors at the Evergreen Centre for those who are ready to participate through in-person activities they enjoy. Here’s how we plan to do that safely over the next while. GWSA memberships will restart in September, after being on hold since March a year ago. You will receive a new membership card and adjusted renewal date. That will be available for pickup starting September 7, the first day we can be open to members, or you can leave it until your first Activity Group if you wish. Extra volunteers will be available throughout the first week. We are asking everyone to update their personal information in RecEnroll so we can keep in touch. If you do that by August 31, your new information will be reflected in your membership package. If you want, you can even add a middle initial after your first name to distinguish yourself from others with the same names. Members must present their In-Person Play ACCESS card to do any GWSA in-person activities. That tells Activity Group Leaders that you are fully vaccinated and signed a waiver, requirements the Board decided were necessary to help us take care of each other. If you used DocuSign through our website to look after that by August 31, you’ll receive your IPP ACCESS card along with your membership card on September 7, or whenever you drop by for your envelope. Please note that City staff cannot process waivers and vaccination documents. The GWSA will continue to accommodate unvaccinated members by continuing to provide virtual activities. Our new livestreaming video-recording studio is available to those who want to consider something creative and fun. Because we have been ‘on hold’ while extending memberships, Activity Groups could only restart when memberships reactivated again. Starting on September 1, members can register for all of their Activity Groups through RecEnroll, which can be done easily online from home, from your smartphone, or in person at the front desk. You can check available spaces and timetables, join new groups, pay any required fees, or even join City groups - all through the same application. Groups will become visible in RecEnroll starting September 1, as soon as their return-to-play plans have been approved and space and times have been allocated. Expect activities to resume gradually as everyone decides how to address personal comfort levels and meet requirements. Please note that space is currently at a premium due to the room capacity limits. All new memberships and renewals, and their payment, must be done at the Evergreen Centre, or by telephone. As we get rolling this fall, you might have a few friends you can encourage to become members and join the fun! They can complete their initial application NOTE: Disclaimer—The Sentinel and the GWSA do not necessarily agree with or support statements in the Sentinel made by advertisers, or submissions by writers (no political or religious topics please).
