J
immy, it feels like a while since we
were last in action at home when we
came from behind to beat Preston. What
was your take on that game?
It wasn’t ideal but we’ve shown time
and again the kind of character we
have. In this division you need to be a
team that can get yourself out of sticky
situations. Admittedly, we probably do it
too much and we keep giving ourselves
a mountain to climb, but you’ve got to
do what you’ve got to do to get results.
We are where we are because we’ve
been able to come back and get those
results where other teams would have
probably given up. It seems to be in our
DNA; we’re a team of fighters and we’re
very determined. We got back into the
Preston game just by sheer belief.
Yes, if you could make games a bit less
stressful, that would be great!
I apologise wholeheartedly for putting
fans through the ringer on occasion, but
at least it’s exciting to watch! We’re scoring
goals and that’s what fans want to see.
Personally, I want us to be conceding much
less. To get promoted and win titles you
need to get into a habit of keeping clean
sheets. It’s a difficult division, though, the
games come so thick and fast, teams chop
and change, so if we have to score three
goals to win, we’ll do that. You can’t say we
haven’t been entertaining.
On the subject of goals, you found the
net against Preston. How good did it
feel seeing your effort hit the back of
the onion bag?
It was a scrappy one, but I’ll take it. I wanted
to get off the mark for QPR as early as I
could. I’m aiming for six this season, which
might be a tough number to hit, but I want
to be able to contribute at that end of the
pitch and cause some mayhem. Even if
they are scrappy goals, they all count. The
one against Preston got us back into the
