EDITORIAL SNIPPETS: The visitors’
section of the Orient programme read:
“We continue a series of London area
derby matches this morning with a visit
from Queens Park Rangers, who are
making their second appearance of
1981 on this ground. It will be recalled
that last season Rangers were beaten
4-0 in a highly entertaining midweek
game at Leyton Stadium, when it was
generally acknowledged that our
visitors were hard done by to suffer
such a defeat.
“Big talking point at Rangers this
season has, of course, been the
introduction of an artificial playing
surface. While away from Rangers
Stadium, their one success so far has
been a victory on the opening day of
the programme at Wrexham.
“Our opponents’ results of matches
played on opposition grounds this season
is: Won 3-1 at Wrexham; Lost 1-2 at
Grimsby, 0-2 at Oldham, 1-3 at Derby.
“Rangers’ 14 Division Two goals this
season have been credited as follows:
John Gregory 4, Andy King (now West
Bromwich Albion) 3, Simon Stainrod 3,
Clive Allen 2, Glenn Roeder 1, Joey
Jones (Wrexham, own goal) 1.”
