Rothwell has become a key
component of the Blackburn
side following his switch from
Oxford United in 2018.
Starting out at Manchester
United, Rothwell never made a
first-team appearance for the
Reds, embarking on loan spells
at Blackpool and Barnsley. He
turned down a new deal with
United in order to move to the
Kassam Stadium in July 2016.
The Mancunian impressed for
the U’s in League One to catch
the eye of Rovers who signed
him for an undisclosed fee.

INITIALLY on the
books of Plymouth
Argyle, Southampton
beat a host of clubs to
secure the signature
of Sam Gallagher in
April 2012. He made
his Saints debut in
November 2013 at the
age of 18 and played
20 times under
Mauricio Pochettino
that term.
The departure of
Pochettino limited
Gallagher’s first-team
chances and he
headed out on loan to
Milton Keynes Dons,
Blackburn and
Birmingham City over
the next three
seasons.
He returned to Ewood
Park permanently in the
summer of 2019 and
has since formed a
strong partnership with
Ben Brereton Diaz.
