BLACKBURN ROVERS
OPPOSITION
OVERVIEW
O P P O S I T I O N O V E R V I E W
ONE of the founding members of the Football League,
Blackburn Rovers have a rich and proud history, with the
glory days returning to Ewood Park during the mid-90s
with a Premier League title.
A string of accolades from the late 1800s and early 1900s ensures that
Blackburn’s name will forever be etched into footballing history, but
with their last honours coming in 2002 in the form of the League Cup,
the wait for success has now stretched to 19 years.
Relegated from the Premier League in 2012, Rovers have had to
press the rebuild button, with current boss Tony Mowbray pulling the
Lancashire outfit out of League One before establishing themselves
back in the Championship.
The departure of frontman Adam Armstrong may have dampened the
expectations of the Blackburn faithful this term, but Rovers have made
a steady start to the new campaign, enjoying victories over Swansea
City, Nottingham Forest, Hull City and Cardiff City to date.
