Adored in Lancashire
and worshipped in Chile,
Ben Brereton Diaz
initially arrived at
Ewood Park on loan
from Nottingham Forest
in August 2018. The
move was made
permanent the
following January for a
fee of £7m.
As a youngster, the
striker had spent time
on the books of
Manchester United and
Stoke City before being
handed his chance at
Forest, hitting his first
professional goal with an
injury-time winner in a
2-1 victory over Aston
Villa in February 2017 in
only his third
appearance for the Reds.
After noticing he was
half Chilean whilst
playing the popular
video game Football
Manager, a group of fans
began a social media
campaign to get the
forward picked for the
South American
country. Last May he
was called up for the
first time and he has
since scored twice in
seven games.
