Working from home is here to stay for many households, providing installers with a huge
opportunity to sell homeowners the ideal workspace that they may not even know they need

At the time of writing, the country is holding its
breath, waiting to hear whether we will all be
instructed to work from home again as Covid
cases continue to rise. But regardless of what
we’re told to do by Government, working from home
is already becoming part and parcel of many jobs.
In a recent study, 85% of adults interviewed
showed a preference for hybrid working for the
long-term. However, working from home comes
with its own set of challenges – challenges that
offer installers a significant opportunity.
An increasing number of people are extending or
improving their houses to allow them to work from
home more easily. But there are considerations that
need to be made before the work begins. Natural
light offers the best working environment. The
Workplace Regulations Act states that ‘employers
must ensure that: Every workplace has suitable
and sufficient lighting. This should be natural light,
so far as is reasonably practicable.’ While homes
are not official workspaces, the fact that more
natural light reduces eye strain, causes fewer
headaches, makes people more productive and
less tired, are all great reasons for homeowners
to choose products that allow more light into their
home office.
Maintaining the work-life balance
Most of us also don’t want work to encroach on
our home life when we’ve switched the laptop off.
We need a separate space, or at the very least an
area that feels separate to the rest of our lives.
Some people can extend their home and add a
closed off office space, but more homeowners are
