Santa’s delights &<br />
twinkling lights at Gateway<br />
Gateway Theatre of Shopping is embracing the festive season on a grand scale this year, creating unique<br />
experiences, bringing families and friends together, making holiday memories and shopping a pleasure!<br />
Beautiful, twinkling lights and unique backdrops<br />
have transformed Gateway Theatre of Shopping<br />
into a wonderland of magic and delight.<br />
Eight charming scenes, which have been<br />
carefully positioned throughout the superregional<br />
mall, allow shoppers to stop, admire and<br />
‘snap a selfie’ while truly embracing the festive<br />
spirit and holiday fun. “Visitors are invited to<br />
use what we’ve created as backdrops to capture<br />
holiday fun together,” says Gateway Theatre of<br />
Shopping Marketing Manager, Michelle Shelley.<br />
Santa has taken over the Expo Explore area with<br />
a village full of interactive scenes to enjoy. By far<br />
one of the most exciting elements is the Virtual<br />
Reality sleigh ride experience (R20 per person),<br />
which sees Santa’s sleigh making virtual flips to<br />
deliver presents (open from 3 - 23 <strong>Dec</strong>ember).<br />
Dressed up as the ‘garden of light’ with twinkling<br />
fairy lights and a suspended swing, the Palm<br />
Court promises to be extra-special this season<br />
and the ideal spot to relax over a meal and enjoy<br />
our beautiful summer weather. “In addition<br />
to the Lighthouse & Ocean Play area, we will<br />
be hosting live music in the evenings from 16<br />
<strong>Dec</strong>ember.”<br />
The mind-bending World of Illusions (also<br />
dressed up in festive finery) is another mustvisit<br />
for shoppers! The unbelievable scenarios<br />
a hugely popular and provide the perfect<br />
opportunity to snap some holiday-themed<br />
wonder!<br />
<strong>Dec</strong>orated with plush Disney character toys,<br />
the impossibly tall giant Disney tree is back on<br />
the glass floor at Food Republic. (As a Disney,<br />
Gateway, Nedbank and SMILE Foundation<br />
initiative, the plushes are generously donated to<br />
children.)<br />
Giving back to the community, Reach-for-a-<br />
Dream will offer a gift-wrapping station in the<br />
mall and Gateway will be introducing their<br />
extended trading hours from 15 <strong>Dec</strong>ember - 9am<br />
to 10pm (9pm from 24 <strong>Dec</strong>ember to 7 January).<br />
Christmas Day and New Year’s is optional trading<br />
and the mall closes at 8pm on New Year’s Eve.<br />
