During the Covid pandemic the USA, the third most
visited country in the world, shut its borders for
non-citizens from over 30 countries including those in
the EU, United Kingdom, South Africa, China, and Brazil.
The lack of visitors from key markets in Europe meant that
tourism industry in the US suffered. Thousands of hotels
and tour companies were forced to shut down, hundreds
of thousands of jobs in the hospitality industry were lost,
and millions in expected revenue wiped away.
However, on November 8th there was some good news
as the border to the USA finally re-opened to visitors from
over 30 countries including the UK and large parts of
Europe. This is as long as travellers a fully vaccinated and
can provide a negative Covid result within 3 days before
departure. As a result, many international airlines began
restarting services to the USA or those that continued to
provide a service found bookings up by more than 50%.
This so called “travel rush” of
course comes as no surprise
given how appealing the USA
is to international travellers.
The country is one of the most
diverse in terms of attractions,
things to do, places to eat,
natural beauty, and culture.
With so many major cities and
destinations to visit America is
a country many have to keep
re-visiting just to take it all in.
