Fellow CED Enthusiasts:
Whenever I'm watching a movie or TV sitcom from the early 80's I always look at
any entertainment consoles that may be in the background to see if they contain
a CED player. Well, I've never spotted a player in any of my viewings, so I
thought I'd post to see if anyone else has. The closest thing I've seen is the
original RCA Digital Command Center being used to control a TV in "The Wizard of
Speed and Time" (filmed in '83/'84 but not released until 1988).
Somthing else that has been happening lately, particularly with 8-Track tape
players, is the appearance of old technology in current productions set in the
earlier time period. Showing someone loading a CED into one of RCA's
electric-loading players would be a great prop for a movie set in the early
80's.
Re: possible footage missing from some versions of "The Black Hole": This
reminds me of the CED of "Escape to Witch Mountain"- an IMPORTANT scene
looks to have been deliberately cut out! The only other place I've seen
this movie was on network TV way back when; when the bad guys bring the
kids to the big house and leave them in that big playroom with all the
