Just some more food for thought on the "Bring back the <strong>CED</strong>!" project.<br />

Does anyone know just WHERE the <strong>CED</strong> pressing devices might be<br />

located?<br />

I remember a few years ago on the classic video game group... some<br />

guy had a great idea that all the classic gamers make a pilgrimage to<br />

New Mexico (Or was it Arizona) and there they would do an<br />

archaeological dig for a ton of overproduced atari 2600 games (ET,<br />

Swordquest Earthworld) for fun and for souvenirs. So, all these<br />

elaborate plans were made on how and when everyone would bring their<br />

pup tents and there pick axes to the site for the dig.<br />

Only problem, no one could figure out just WHERE the location was.<br />

So it was about 6 months of wishful thinking.<br />

Does anyone know where it might be? If it existed? Is there only one<br />

machine? Or what?<br />

Also, on another note from a skeptic... I think the number given as<br />

the number of people still using <strong>CED</strong>'s... is overstated. Even if it<br />

was not.. I don't think people who aren't on the internet should be<br />

counted! How are they to contribute anything if they don't know? I<br />

would guestimate the number of people who are <strong>CED</strong> users and are on<br />

the internet at what... 100? 200? Maybe less than either of those?<br />

I'm not against this whole deal, I think it'd be swell.. but, I say<br />

cut through some feasibility discussion and have someone do the leg<br />

work and find out where the pressing machine might be if it still<br />

exists. Because, if there is no machine.. what's to do.. make<br />

another? Not likely.. it probably takes a huge obsolete machine just<br />

to build the huge obsolete machine that is used to press the obsolete<br />

disks that we like so much.<br />
