Subject: 16th Anniversary of <strong>CED</strong> Introduction<br />

Greetings All:<br />

It was 16 years ago on Sunday, March 22, 1981 that RCA introduced the <strong>CED</strong> system<br />

at 5000 dealerships nationwide. Its interesting that this coming Monday is a<br />

major intro date for DVD, when Warner introduces the first large batch of DVD<br />

titles. DVD will be advertised at the Academy Awards on Monday. Does anyone know<br />

if RCA promoted <strong>CED</strong> during the 1981 Academy Awards (broadcast March 31, 1981)?<br />

There will be an RCA-brand DVD player which can be seen at this URL:<br />

That website also has "The RCA Story", a history of the company and brand name<br />

from the late 19th century to present. They breeze through the 1980's without<br />

one mention of <strong>CED</strong>.<br />

Subject: technical problem<br />

My SFT100 W seems to be giving me a little problem that I cant quite<br />

figure out. The picture lately has had some static in it, and quite a few<br />

skips. So I figure my stylus is worn down. I order a brand new one, and<br />

though the picture doesnt seem to skip much, there is still quite a bit of<br />

static on the screen. Is there anything else I should check out? I have a<br />

ton of things hooked up to the tv, and I am going to try hooking it up<br />

"clean" to another TV without any other stuff plugged through it, to see if
