That’s scary!

“Where is that screaming coming from?”
“Mom and Dad are watching the news.”
“Why is everyone so angry?”
“There’s a demonstration . . . ”
“Is that place far away?”
“But you’re not allowed to hit
other people, are you?”
“Is that really happening?”

. . . there’s nothing to fear.
“Does this make you feel afraid?”
“Yes, it does!”
“Mom and Dad can watch the news later.”
“You’re safe here at home.”
“What about the other children?”
“There are many grown-ups who look after them
too.”
“Can I come sit on your lap?”
“Of course!”

“Isn’t it a nice spacecraft?”
“Yes, it is, but it’s taken over
the entire kitchen.”
“Here’s the cockpit and the lookout station. This
is where you can sleep.”
“Who’s taken the whisk?”
“I needed some tools.”
“Now let’s pick up everything.”
“No! This is ready to
take off now!”

“I understand. You can continue
to play till we eat.”
“Great! You can come too, Mom!”
“I’m afraid I’m a bit too big for
that cockpit.”
“I can steer. You can keep a lookout
on the roof!”
“Is it here on the table?”

Too much noise!
“The music is too loud!”
“Big boys make a lot of noise when
they play computer games!”
“The vacuum cleaner makes
a horrible sound!”
“Dad is talking on the phone
the whole evening!”

just be quiet?”

“Teddy Bear’s tired.

“Boys, take it down a little with
