DAN PEARLMAN — GOOD NEWS
SAVE THE PLANET
Wer die Augen aufmacht, muss erkennen:
Unsere Natur schwindet.
Gletscher schmelzen. Wälder werden
abgeholzt. Arten sterben. Überschwemmungen,
Stürme und Dürren
lassen ganze Landstriche veröden.
Unser blauer Planet wird in Teilen unbewohnbar.
Der Klimawandel ist da –
global und lokal vor unserer Haustür.
Verantwortlich dafür sind wir alle.
Ohne verschärfte Klimaschutzmaßnahmen
wird die Temperatur bis
Ende des 21. Jahrhunderts um 4 bis
5°C steigen – 100-mal schneller als
bei historisch belegten, natürlichen
Klimaveränderungen. Unser blauer
Planet heizt sich auf. Die globale
Erwärmung ist menschengemacht.
Mit seinem Tun verändert der Mensch
die Erde durch dringend und irre versibel.
Heute leben knapp 7,8 Milliarden
Menschen auf der Erde. 2050 werden
wir fast 10 Milliarden Menschen sein.
Jeder einzelne der bald 10 Milliarden
Menschen hat Grundbedürfnisse. Er
braucht Nahrung und Wohnraum und
träumt von einem bestimmten Lebensstandard.
Jeder Einzelne hinterlässt
mit seinem Lebens stil seinen persönlichen
CO 2 -Fuss abdruck.
Sprichwörtlich „mit Füßen getreten“
dürfte sich unsere Erde fühlen, wenn
sie mit uns sprechen könnte. Ihr
Zustand ist kritisch. Unsere Reaktion
darauf: erbärmlich. Mit unserem Tun
zerstören wir die Basis unseres Wohlstandes,
unsere Volkswirtschaften,
unsere Lebensgrundlagen. An das
Morgen oder gar das Übermorgen
denken wir kaum. Selbst internatio nale
Abkommen und politische Erklärungen
zum Klimaschutz oder die weltweite
„Fridays for Future“ Bewegung
wirken oft nur wie ein Tropfen auf den
heißen Stein Erde.
Koste es, was es wolle: Wir müssen
unseren Heimat planeten retten, denn
wir haben nur eine Erde. Es gilt, unser
Leben und Handeln auf den Klimaschutz
auszurichten. Das Motto: All
Days for Future.
Anyone who opens their eyes must
realise: Our nature is disappearing.
Glaciers are melting. Forests are being
cut down. Species are dying. Floods,
storms and droughts are making entire
regions desolate. Our blue planet
is becoming uninhabitable in parts.
Climate change is here – globally and
locally on our doorstep. We are all
responsible for it.
Without more stringent climate protection
measures, the temperature
will rise by 4 to 5°C by the end of the
21st century – 100 times faster than
histori cally proven natural climate
changes. Our blue planet is heating
up. Global warming is man-made.
Human activity is changing the Earth
in a pervasive and irreversible way.
Today, nearly 7.8 billion people live
on Earth. In 2050, we will be almost
10 billion people. Every single one of
the soon to be 10 billion people has
basic needs. They need food and living
space and dream of a certain standard
of living. Each individual leaves his or
her personal carbon footprint with his
or her lifestyle.
Our earth might literally feel “trampled
underfoot” if it could talk to us.
Its condition is critical. Our reaction to
it: pathetic. With our actions, we are
destroying the basis of our prosperity,
our economies, our livelihoods. We
hardly think about tomorrow or even
the day after tomorrow. Even international
agreements and political
declarations on climate protection or
the worldwide “Fridays for Future”
movement often seem like a drop in
the ocean.
Whatever the cost, we have to save
our home planet, because we only
have one Earth. We need to gear our
lives and actions towards climate
protection. The motto: All Days for
Future.
