Diego De Couto (1542-1616) – De Couto was present when Mahavamsa was recited to a
Sinhalese prince by an interpreter from Pali to Sinhalese. De Couto is been credited of
providing a great account of India and Lanka.
Rodriguez Menezes – Son of Captain General Constantine De Sa Noronha, who was killed
during the defection of four Sinhalese Christians to the Kandy kingdom. Menezes was
captured by Kandians and later released.
