Diego De Couto (1542-1616) – De Couto was present when <strong>Mahavamsa</strong> was recited to a<br />

Sinhalese prince by an interpreter from Pali to Sinhalese. De Couto is been credited of<br />

providing a great account of India and Lanka.<br />

Rodriguez Menezes – Son of Captain General Constantine De Sa Noronha, who was killed<br />

during the defection of four Sinhalese Christians to the Kandy kingdom. Menezes was<br />

captured by Kandians and later released.<br />
