Famously placed by the
legendary Al Pacino in the
1983 blockbuster movie –
Scarface, Tony Montana
said it all when he said:
“Money brings power and power
brings women – who will bring
you to your knees.”
Time and again, history has
shown that man’s greatest
weakness – sex, is capable of
bringing down the noblest and
rubbishing his legacy in the mud.
From the biblical days of Adam
and Eve, women have been
responsible for the downfall of
great men. Even Samson, the
man who was adjudged to be
the greatest man ever lived, was
brought down by a woman.
Despite the shameful scandals
and embarrassing walks of
shame that many notable
personalities have been
compelled to endure due to their
inability to control their guilty
pleasures, more men are pulled
down daily.
From top political leaders to
clergypersons – the walk-ofshame
list contains men from
all sectors – men who were
perceived as role models.
While these stories put a bitter pill
in the mouth, it leaves us with a
thought-provoking question as to
why men will risk everything they
have built for a few minutes of
pleasure.
Another striking aspect of these
scandals is the kind of women –
sex workers, maids, minors, etc.
– who bring these powerful men
to their feet.
I have highlighted 10 famous
sexual scandals that have
rocked our world. Let’s check
them out:
Silvio Berlusconi &
a Minor
Known to have quite the colorful reputation, the
former Italian PM stood trial for having sex with a
minor in 2011.
The girl was a 17-year old Moroccan belly dancer,
Karima El Mahroug. In 2009, his wife of 19 years,
Veronica Lario, had filed for divorce and publicly
accused her husband of ‘consorting with minors’.
The scandal was the beginning of the end of Silvio
Berlusconi’s blistering political career.
