Rangiora-Ashley Community Board
Community safety improvements were akey focus
of the Rangiora-Ashley Community Board meeting
on 13 April, with recommendations for animproved
lighting plan for Rangiora and Kaiapoi and safer
parking options around Rangiora Borough School.
The Board endorsed anew lighting concept design
plan for Rangiora and Kaiapoi to help improve the
safety and aesthetics ofthe two town centres.
For Rangiora, the plan includes adding warmer
lighting to improve safety along the main street,
while still using existing heritage light fittings
and poles to protect the history and style ofHigh
In Kaiapoi, the plan includes improvements
to lighting along Williams Street to help local
residents feel safer while walking at night time.
There’s also plans to light up the underside of the
Williams Street Bridge to highlight it as afocal
point in the town centre.
