Nursing and as a past MNA/MASN Advisor. In addition, she is the immediate past<br />
president of the Pi Xi Chapter of STTI and serves on the Board for the Delta Cotton<br />
Belles, a service organization whose goal is to provide breast education and programs<br />
in the Delta. In <strong>2013</strong> Debbie received the MNA/MNF Nightingale Nursing Faculty of<br />
the Year Award.<br />
Statement of Intent:<br />
As a member of the <strong>Mississippi</strong> <strong>Nurses</strong> <strong>Association</strong> (MNA) for over 25 years,<br />
Debbie has served the nurses of <strong>Mississippi</strong> as a member of the MNA Nominations<br />
Committee, the Health Affairs Committee, District 21 President , and both MNA<br />
and ANA delegate. She has witnessed and been involved with MNA at several tiers<br />
of involvement. Debbie has also had the honor to serve on several committees for the<br />
<strong>Mississippi</strong> <strong>Nurses</strong> Foundation (MNF) including the Nightingale Committee and the<br />
Car Tag Stipend Scholarship Committee. Her past and current involvement allows<br />
her to understand the necessity of membership growth in the development of our vital<br />
organization. If elected vice-president, Debbie will continue to develop and improve<br />
communication between members, the Board, the districts, and our nursing students<br />
throughout the state in an effort to bring in new members. She feels the leadership of<br />
the past two years has made positive and meaningful strides towards restructuring our<br />
membership for the future. Debbie plans to achieve new membership goals and to help<br />
guide MNA›s future initiatives for the nurses and patients of <strong>Mississippi</strong>.<br />
Dallas Rodgers, <strong>MS</strong>N, FNP<br />
Biographical Profile: Dallas M. Rodgers is from Clarksdale, and currently practicing as a Family Nurse<br />
Practitioner (FNP) at her own clinic. She graduated with her Bachelors of Science<br />
in 2003 from Baptist College of Health Science. In 2006 she obtained her Masters<br />
in Science of Nursing from the University of Memphis with a focus in FNP. Prior<br />
to opening her own practice she worked in the emergency department at Methodist<br />
LeBonheur Hospital of Germantown from 2005-2010, as well as working part-time<br />
for Olive Branch Family Medical to keep current on family practice. In 2010 when<br />
she initially moved back to her home town of Clarksdale she worked for Warrington<br />
Clinics. With this group, she rounded on hospital patients, treated patients in the<br />
Quitman County Emergency Room, saw patents in 3 rural clinics and rounded on<br />
nursing home patients and geri-psych patients. Recently Dallas and her business<br />
partner opened a second clinic in Hernando, <strong>MS</strong>.<br />
Statement of Intent:<br />
As a nurse practitioner in a standalone clinic, Dallas hopes to be able to mentor to<br />
other NPs with similar goals. The Vice President’s primary responsibility is to manage<br />
recruitment and membership for MNA. She considers the goal of increasing MNA<br />
membership by the end of 2014 a challenge that she wants to meet as well as exceed. As<br />
a new member to the board Dallas hopes to bring creative and beneficial ideas to the<br />
table. Membership starts at the district level and she hopes to reach out to all districts<br />
to educate on the importance of MNA membership and the unity as a profession.<br />
Dallas is an energetic, hard working female who wants to make a difference for the<br />
nurses in the State of <strong>Mississippi</strong>. A benefit of being a business owner is the flexibility<br />
of her schedule. She wants to be engaged in the future of nurses in <strong>Mississippi</strong>. She has<br />
advanced practice experience in family practice, emergency room care, nursing home<br />
