certified nursing assistant to DNP student, she could see her purpose unfolding before<br />
her very eyes. For Tyrongilia, nursing is more than a prescription it is a personal call to<br />
freely give of herself to others.<br />
Statement of Intent:<br />
Tyrongilia’s intent is to become actively involved in the <strong>Mississippi</strong> <strong>Nurses</strong>’ <strong>Association</strong>.<br />
Her desire is to be influential in the process of change for all nurses in the state of<br />
<strong>Mississippi</strong>. As an advanced practice nurse in this state, it is her desire to become an<br />
advocate for our colleagues, as well as other professional nurses in this state.<br />
Important laws are in the forefront of advanced practice in the state of <strong>Mississippi</strong>.<br />
These laws are critical to nursing practice. Tyrongilia is willing to commit to serving<br />
to assist with the collaboration and favorable outcome regarding these laws. Favorable<br />
outcomes pose the opportunity for <strong>Mississippi</strong> to serve as a model to other states<br />
attempting to achieve similar goals of removing limitations in advanced practice<br />
nursing.<br />
She personally believes that with commitment change is possible. With selfless labor, she<br />
believes the nurses in <strong>Mississippi</strong> are on the brink of a breakthrough. Tyrongilia’s goal<br />
in office is to work to see this change come to pass. She is willing to use her leadership<br />
skills for this purpose. She is willing to use her collaborative and administrative skills<br />
to effectively strategize ways to introduce change to nurses in the state of <strong>Mississippi</strong>.<br />
She is willing to work as part of the team to effectively motivate and unify nurses in<br />
the state of <strong>Mississippi</strong>.<br />
If Tyrongilia is elected, she will endeavor to work in unity with the vision and mission of<br />
this organization. She is willing to commit her time and energy to better understanding<br />
the heart of the team and the objectives that we must achieve. She strongly feels<br />
that working with people for over 16 years in various capacities such as secretarial,<br />
ministry, and administrative have prepared her to be an effective part of the MNA<br />
team. Tyrongilia hopes that she could be considered to serve in some capacity on the<br />
MNA team and looks forward to seeing change on a greater level together.<br />
James Dale Heard, BSN, <strong>MS</strong>N, DNP<br />
Biographical Profile: James “Jaymie” Heard is from Wesson, <strong>Mississippi</strong>, and currently employed at King’s<br />
Daughters Medical Center as the Director of ICU, Med-Surg and Telemetry. He<br />
obtained his DNP in December of 2012 from the University of Southern <strong>Mississippi</strong>. He<br />
serves as President of the Southwest Council for the Organization of Nurse Executives,<br />
a position he has held for the past 4 years. Jaymie is also an active member of Sigma<br />
Theta Tau, MNA, ANA, the National <strong>Association</strong> for Healthcare Quality, <strong>Mississippi</strong><br />
Healthcare Quality <strong>Association</strong>, AACN and AONE.<br />
Statement of Intent:<br />
James “Jaymie” Heard promises to uphold the bylaws of the <strong>Mississippi</strong> <strong>Nurses</strong>’<br />
<strong>Association</strong> and Nominating Committee. He also promises to be fair and respect all<br />
others within the organization and to accept the responsibilities of the position and<br />
the opportunity to serve in this capacity.<br />
