Welcome contents to the July/August edition of Aroundtown Magazine. Dear Reader What a jam-packed edition we have for you with lots of inspiration to keep you busy this summer. There are lots of festivals taking place in both Rotherham and Barnsley with everything from brass bands to baby dinosaurs and even a festival dedicated to women. We also have ideas for places to visit in South Yorkshire and how you can save money when spending time at local attractions. This year, we have been overwhelmed by the response to the sports features we have published. So, to keep on the ball we once again share with you stories from South Yorkshire. The biggest sporting event this summer is the Women’s EURO which Rotherham is a proud host venue of. It was great to catch up with Val Hoyle, a true ambassador for the women’s game, to hear about how she started what is now known as Rotherham United Women FC when she was just a 12-year-old schoolgirl. Val’s story is also a part of a new exhibition at Clifton Park Museum that looks at the history of women and girl’s football in Rotherham. As ever we feature the independent businesses where you can find inspiration for updating your wardrobe and places to relax and enjoy a little me time.
