ACCOUNTING
We successfully concluded the two-year
certification training for the third generation
of public sector accountants in North
Macedonia (PACT). Due to the Covid-19 circumstances,
we transformed and delivered all modules in an online
format for the first time. We prepared the project
and secured financial support to continue the training
on the diploma level in the following two years.
The program promotes regional cooperation in
overcoming common challenges in the PFM reform
through accounting. It supports the development
and recognition of the accounting profession through
certification trainings, and strengthens inter-institutional
cooperation across countries.
One of the highlights of the year was the first joint
international conference organized as a hybrid event
in North Macedonia, in partnership between the CEF
and Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy
(CIPFA). It brought together almost 200
participants from 30 countries and 90 institutions to
discuss trends, lessons learned, challenges and techniques
on how to overcome them in four relevant areas:
asset management, anti-corruption, leadership,
and the training needs of accountants and auditors.
We continued our support to public officials by
raising awareness, deepening knowledge and exchanging
international experience on the topic of
public sector asset management. To ensure further
support, we developed a new project and secured
funding for its implementation through a three-year
project “Efficient Public Sector Asset Management”
(EPSAM), starting on January 1, 2022.
