CEF – 20 YEARS OF CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT IN SEE
In 20 years, the CEF, together with our extended
community of members, learners, Coordinators,
experts, donors, partners, and other friends
accomplished quite a journey.

Today, the CEF is a learning organization and a regional knowledge hub.
We deliver value to our constituency through practices that have evolved
over the 20 years.
Our 33 staff members are experts in learning that collaborate with over
200 experts, half of them coming from SEE. These leading professionals
in their fields are crucial in providing lectures and practitioners’ expertise
to our learning and knowledge sharing program.
In 2001, the CEF had three staff members and 46 experts working with
us. Initially, we were an organizer of training courses for six constituency
members from SEE. By 2016 the CEF’s constituency grew already to 12
countries in the region.
To meet the changing needs of our learners, we have recognized the value
of a stimulating learning environment, be it physical or online. Having
our own platform developed for online learning became crucial in 2020.
The Covid-19 pandemic required us to shift all our program delivery to
an online format.
We have always worked on these basic principles: adapt to the ever-changing
environment and its challenges, and nurture networking and
ownership through partnerships and participation of the entire CEF community.
All of this will be even more observed in the future, as demonstrated
in our Strategic Direction 2022–2026.
