Lighter, faster,
more efficient
The blow moulding specialist W. MÜLLER (Troisdorf,
Germany) has optimized the production process
for plastic bottles with its technology for packaging
manufacturer Flestic. Equipped with new extrusion
heads on existing machinery, material consumption was
reduced while maintaining the same quality, as well as
reducing cycle time and energy consumption.
With specifically designed extrusion heads from
W. Müller, Flestic was successful in reducing the
material usage for their bottles by 10 %, the processing
temperature by 15 % and the cycle time by 20 %. In
addition, the wall thickness distribution of the packaging
was optimized, which made it possible to achieve greater
stability. With the new heads, the colour change is also
much faster.
As a leading manufacturer of plastic packaging from
Dronten in the Netherlands, Flestic has been placing
its trust in W. Müller’s expertise for quite some time.
Peter Westveer, Commercial Director at Flestic, is very
impressed by the cooperation: “We approached W. Müller
with the aim of optimizing our production process and
are enthusiastic about the improvements achieved. The
now-installed multiple extrusion heads fit easily on our
systems and allow us to produce more efficiently and
cost-effectively. Reducing cycle time and bottle weight
saves resources and money!”

Flestic has already announced that they will continue
to work with W. Müller in the future in order to further
optimize its production. The blow moulding heads from
W. Müller are perfectly suitable for also for the processing
of biobased materials that Flestic uses in a range of its
