RIVER BEAL CAFÉ COMES OF AGE
Great coffee, great times and great people
at Milnrow’s community café
River Beal Café is approaching its second birthday. Since
opening in Autumn 2020, the Milnrow based coffee shop
has established itself as a place where communities come
together. It is a hive of activity with local groups using
the café, from arts and crafts groups to spoken word
performances and even a Ukulele band! It has also gained a
great following with dog walkers and ramblers.
The community café offers great coffee as well as builder’s tea and good honest
food from cheese paninis to meat pies and all at down to earth prices! You can
pay by card as well as cash and pre-order by telephone. Where it differs from its
multinational rivals is the fact you could have a taste of Lancashire as well as Seattle!
In the last year, River Beal Café has joined the Chatty Café Scheme which means
that it prides itself as being a place for lively conversation, a chance to put the mobile
phones away and enjoy a cosy chat. It is one of many places under the Rochdale
Safe Place Scheme, which offers a safe place of refuge for people in distress. The
café’s welcoming atmosphere is also extended to our furry friends which means you
can pop it at anytime whilst out on a dog walk.
The café is run by Future Directions CIC, a Chadderton-based provider of personcentred
social care for people with complex care needs. In addition to being a focal
part of the community, it provides work experience for people with additional needs
and mental health issues. Each of its Baristas gain valuable experience in working
as part of a team and they all take great pride in customer service, as well as making
great coffee!
Plans were made for the café’s development in 2019 and all went well until the
first lockdown which meant that the café’s opening in Spring 2020 was delayed
till October 2020. Lockdown measures meant it could only operate as a takeaway
before closing and reopening in Spring 2021. Since then, it has found its feet,
coming into its own as a valuable community hub.
With excellent coffee, a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere and all at a great price, the
River Beal café has it all. So, whether you fancy a quick brew or a full cooked breakfast,
why not pop in and see for yourself, we very much look forward to seeing you!
River Beal Café is open from 10am to 5pm from Monday
to Friday and 10am to 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
It is also a five-minute walk away from Milnrow Metrolink tram stop.
You can also telephone on 07529 224941.
